Business interruption
Secures your business's finances if production or sales come to a standstill after a covered loss.
What is business interruption insurance?
It covers your loss of gross profit if the business has to close fully or partially after damage (e.g. fire or water). It pays your fixed costs, such as wages and rent, while you rebuild.
Why business interruption insurance is important
Without earnings, the business will quickly fail, even if the building is insured. The biggest mistake is an indemnity period that is too short. If it takes 24 months to rebuild your factory, but your business interruption only covers 12 months, you will go bankrupt halfway through the process.
Many also forget to factor growth expectations into their business interruption insurance, ending up with a payout that does not match their current turnover.
