When will CFOs start cutting the budget item?

An auditor who received a commission from the tax firm they recommended to a client would lose their licence.

A doctor who received a kickback from a pharmaceutical company would be struck off.

In the insurance brokerage industry, this is the business model.

I have written an opinion piece in Børsen today about the operating budget item that very few CFOs have dared to touch: outsourced advisory services.

The broker is the clearest example, but not the only one. Auditing, legal, and management consultancy face the same shift. Most of what they bill for is analytical work, and that work is no longer scarce.

It is not a question of if, but when CFOs will begin to drive down this budget item.
